Northwestern 39 Yellow

Northwestern Corp. 1939

The Northwestern 39 is a bulk vendor that at first glance looks like a 33 gum with a different lid. While the 39 is similarly shaped the resemblance stops there. The 39 has a much larger footprint and is much heavier. I prefer the size and look of the 33 gum. I have heard from other collectors that the mechanism is not easy to work on and can easily frustrate even the most seasoned restorer.

As with all of the other porcelain Northwestern lines, the 39 came in a variety of colors. It has two sizes of globes that are correct, of those I think that it looks awkward with the larger globe and prefer the small one.

The one above is a very nice original example of a hard to find yellow. The decal is also a stunning original.
