Schokolade

Unknown maker Est. late 1800 or early 1900

This is a large, extremely heavy, German chocolate vendor. To illustrate how large this machine is I have my 3 year old standing next to it. I state the maker as unknown but the tag on the side of the machine has some information on it that I am sure is a manufacturer tag but I don't read German so I can't be positive. If you can translate for me please e-mail me. It is made of cast iron and very thick steel. I estimate this machine was made in the late 1800's or early 1900's. I know of one other like it that a friend bought about 2 years before I found this one. I always liked his so when I saw this one I knew I had to buy it. This machine has presence beyond any other I own.

I always thought this was a wall mount vendor but once I got it home and looked it over I am not so sure. It only has one hole in the back to allow for mounting and I don't think one bolt would hold the extreme weight of the machine (over 80 lbs.) I did discover two threaded holes in the base of the machine. This indicates to me that it may have been mounted on a stand. If it was wall mounted it must have had a sturdy bracket that made use of these holes and had multiple points for attaching it to the wall.

This example is 100% original and has a great aged look.
